Hailing from Barnsley, South Yorkshire before relocating to the bass capital of Birmingham, Kilner’s producing career spans across 8 years of diverse experimentation and fine-tuning; under his original alias “BeKai” he created a series of dark, moody dubstep tracks in tandem with the genre’s swelling growth and intrigue. This initial venture proved to be a key influence in what was to emerge.
As the years wore on Kilner steadily began to move away from his roots, instead incorporating dark dubstep style undertones with a new fascination - Bassline. This genre hybridity plays on evil dub synths, rumbling low end frequencies, upbeat (and up tempo) drum progressions, and with it a serious injection of energy and originality.
The Brent Kilner sound is one that becomes instantly recognisable, a trait picked up by a number of well-established labels (Bear Fresh, Four40, Second To None Music, and In:Flux) and artists alike; bass stalwarts like Flava D, Holy Goof, and My Nu Leng have all expressed their support of his unique craft.
With international bookings, guest mixes on Rinse FM, and featured tracks on compilation album’s like Bassline 2 and the forthcoming Holy Goof Fabriclive all under the belt, his impact on the wider bass scene continues to be both thunderous and far-reaching.
